FIRST BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS FOR THE WOODEND COMMUNITY FARMER’S MARKET
This was held on Saturday 1 December 2012 with the Kyneton Municipal Band and a birthday cake . Congratulations Fleur, Meggs, Ralf and the MRSG members who have worked hard to make it a terrific market.
The establishment of a fully accredited Farmers Market in Woodend was one of the major projects at MRSG in 2011.
The Macedon Ranges now hosts a farmers market every Saturday of the month:
1st Saturday – Woodend (cnr High & Forest St, 9am-1pm)
2nd Saturday – Kyneton (St Pauls Park, Piper St, 8am-1pm)
3rd Saturday – Riddells Creek (Main Rd, 9am-1pm)
4th Saturday – Lancefield (High St, 9am-1:30pm)
The production and sale of food locally has many benefits, ensuring agricultural land remains productive, providing income for local producers, reducing food miles and providing a source of non- and low processed food options in an educative and convivial rural atmosphere.
The first Woodend Community Farmers Market was held on the 3rd of December 2011 and will continue on the 1st weekend of the month thereafter to enable weekly farmers market selling and shopping for those looking to support the cause of food localisation.
We would like to acknowledge Café Colenso (www.colenso.com.au) as well as staff, suppliers and customers for their fundraising dinner and the Woodend Lions Club for their generous donation to get the Woodend Farmers Market started.
