Sustainable Living Festival

LIVING SAFELY AND SUSTAINABLY IN THE MACEDON RANGES AND BEYOND

This Macedon Ranges Sustainable Living Festival was held on Saturday February 11, 2012.

The Festival is aimed at making an informative and fun day learning how to reduce your carbon footprint, care for the environment and to make positive changes to lifestyle.

This third annual event   is an offshoot of the Melbourne based Sustainable Living Festival (11 – 26 February 2012) however the Macedon Ranges Sustainable Living Festival is situated in a rural setting in the beautiful Macedon Ranges.

Enjoy speakers, garden tours, hot food,  fresh produce and lots of stalls.  Learn about alternative energy systems; solar and wind , permaculture gardening, keeping chickens, bicycle maintenance, worm farms,  fire safety, massage and much more. Plenty for the whole family including supervised activities for the very young (see schedule below) and a special appearance of the  Macedon Ranges Australian Youth Climate Coalition. Other  features will be the CERES energy trailer giving practical advice on renewable energy, the Wash against Waste trailer providing sturdy utensils and crockery for serving of food and reducing rubbish to landfill .  Many other groups will be represented such as BREAZE (Ballarat), Hepburn Wind, Kyneton Transition Hub, Transition Town  Riddells,  Newham Garden Club and learning meditation in a teepee.

Delicious lentil burgers and other  vegetarian food are  specially made  by the MR VEG food group.

$5 entry fee for adults, young people under 18 and members free. V/Line special – present your V/Line ticket for that day and get in free.
